TKMs examination of the South-East Asian market for forensic computing services has highlighted the potential for rapid growth in demand, according to their Director of ICT Forensics, Thomas Moore.
"TKM first began looking at Asia Pacific as a developing market about a year ago", explains Thomas Moore. "Since then, it has become apparent that the high concentration of commercial activity looks set to generate a substantial demand for our services."
He goes on to explain why TKM has approached Singapore as a point of entry into Asia Pacific: "foreign direct investment into Singapore increased by 102% in the year to 2003. With this sort of influx and Singapore's demand for transparency and integrity in business practice, it is clear that the need for forensic investigation is going to increase rapidly."
From the company's headquarters in Nottingham, UK, TKM has always been proud of its ability to despatch expertise to international clients at very short notice. "We now feel that the time has come", explains Moore, "to determine whether a more permanent presence in South-East Asia would benefit businesses in the region".
Asia Pacific is certainly not short of conventional ICT expertise, but forensic computing is a specialised skill which demands ongoing training and development. "Specialist training is required to handle digital evidence in a way which satisfies the Courts and avoids jeopardising a case" says Thomas Moore.
TKM is in ongoing discussions with corporations and public sector bodies in the Asia Pacific region to determine the best way of delivering services there.
